Our eminent faculty and the state-of-the-art infrastructure are the key elements in implementing our threefold mission of instruction-production-interaction that instills in our students a profound vision of art and life.

At Chetana, learning by doing is our master principle.

To mould professionals for the digital age is our main objective.

Chetana is the media network of CMI fathers of the Thrissur Devamatha Province. We facilitate effective interventions in favour of justice, peace and harmony through meaningful and creative use of cinema and other media arts. Our first unit, `Chetana Sound Studios’ at Chiyaaram was officially launched in 1986, the foundation stone blessed by Pope John Paul II and the Studio inaugurated by Padmashree KJ Yesudas. The other two units catering to music and dance, `Chetana Music Academy’ (affiliated to London Trinity College) and `Chetana Sangeet Natya Academy and Music College’ (affiliated to Madras University), are prestigious institutions in respective areas.

Chetana Media Institute, envisioned as Film & Broadcast Media Institute and Film/Television production and dissemination centre, was inaugurated on August 02, 2002, by the great Indian filmmaker and cameraman Govind Nihalani. The Film Institute Audio-Video studios and Chetana Film Archives & media Library (with around 2000 films in collection and regular weekly film screening) are situated in the Kalliath Square building on Palace Road (opposite to Kerala Sahitya Academy campus). Our Off Campus is at `INSIGHT’ on the Olari-Kanjani road (5kms from Thrissur town), where we have the `Chetana Shoot/Studio Floor’ (1400 sq. feet rea). Here we also conduct our training programme in Broadcast Media.
